Russell Burley is a Senior Research Leader in the ion channel group at Charles River Laboratories in the UK. Using his training as an electrophysiologist, Russell has been working within the pharmaceutical industry supporting drug discovery focused on ion channel targets for 25 years. He has led functional teams contributing in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo electrophysiology solutions to a wide range of therapeutic areas, including epilepsy across the whole research pipeline. His role at Charles River involves driving projects from target discovery and hit finding activities through to lead optimization and beyond. He is a pharmacology graduate of King’s College London and completed his Ph.D. at University College London exploring the biophysical properties of calcium channels in Annette Dolphin’s lab.
