Carly I. O’Malley, MS, PhD, CAAB is a 3Rs Scientist with Charles River, researching behavior and welfare-related refinements for research animals and creating educational materials for laboratory animal professionals. Carly received a PhD in Animal Science in 2019 from Michigan State University, an MS in Biology in 2013 from Western Illinois University, and a BS in Animal Science in 2009 from the University of Massachusetts. Carly’s research interests include social behavior, animal personality, human-animal interactions, behavioral management strategies that promote species-typical behaviors, and the development and validation of behavior- and welfare-related measures, such as welfare assessment tools. Carly is a Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist through the Animal Behavior Society.
