Charles River to Acquire PathoQuest
Expanding our biologics testing capabilities with rapid, advanced next generation sequencing (NGS) solutions
We are pleased to announce plans to acquire PathoQuest, a provider of industry-leading next generation sequencing (NGS) solutions for the characterization and quality-control testing of biopharmaceutical products. Our relationship began more than nine years ago with an exclusive partnership that provided our clients with access to PathoQuest’s NGS solutions. These solutions combine fully validated NGS test methods, including proprietary sample preparation and bioinformatics analysis, for novel, animal-free biosafety testing, characterization, and product release applications in the global biopharmaceutical industry.
PathoQuest’s NGS solutions, including its iDTECT® quality-control platform, are powerful tests for identifying adventitious agents in a single, comprehensive analysis that minimizes false negatives while also providing tools for the genetic characterization of cell lines and viral vectors.
The proposed acquisition of PathoQuest will strengthen Charles River’s existing biologics testing capabilities by adding rapid, advanced GMP testing solutions. PathoQuest’s innovative NGS capability utilizes new approach methodologies (NAMs) that reduce reliance on animal use in biosafety workflows, helping accelerate clients’ quality control testing timelines and streamline the overall drug development process.
