Safety testing for vulnerable patients, including pregnant women, has become an increasingly prominent focus throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Whilst pregnant women are often underrepresented in clinical trials, cell microarray screening provides an in vitro approach to determine the specificity against human prenatal proteins. This poster examines the methodology behind the development of the prenatal protein expansion of the Retrogenix® protein screening library.
Cell microarray screening via the Retrogenix® platform can facilitate a rapid route to de-risking candidates during Early Discovery, enabling more informed selection and helping to cultivate an IND-enabling candidate profile. The latest expansion of the platform allows for screening against prenatal proteins , which provides an early understanding of whether a candidate is likely to be viable for pregnant patients, and can be used as an alternative to some tissue and research model studies.
